Silver Springs
The Silver Springs area lies 60 km south of the Surat Township and contains old gas and oil fields purchased by Mosaic in January 2000.
Since this early date, the Silver Springs camp, 25 km south of the town of Surat, has served as Mosaic's operational headquarters in Southeast Queensland.
The area has both gas and oil reserves and resources as well as the exploration potential in various large Petroleum Leases. The gas fields are Silver Springs, Renlim, Sirrah, Beechwood, Tinker, Lark, Link, Glen Fosslyn, East Glen, Roswin, Roswin West and Roswin North gas and Taylor. There are also two oil fields - Taylor and Boggo Creek - and some gas fields that contain oil (eg. East Glen, Lark, Link and some Tinker wells).
Whilst many of these fields such as Silver Springs-Renlim Field, Sirrah Field, Roswin-Roswin West-Roswin North Fields and Beechwood Field are considered to be at the end of their productive life, recent technical work involving a combination of under balanced and horizontal drilling has upgraded the potential of the northern area – the Tinker Complex. Significant increase in production and proven (1P) oil and gas reserves in Taylor Oil and Gas Field, Link Oil Field and East Glen Oil and Gas Field have also been achieved through a production enhancement program using rod-insert pumps. This low cost production optimisation program is on-going and further implementation in various wells and fields is expected for adding incremental production and proven (1P) gas and oil/condensate reserves.
Mosaic also continues to consider further exploration and development activities in this area due to short lead time to production and also low operating cost for additional gas and oil production in its 100% owned, under-utilised processing facility.
